Julia E.
Smith joined the firm as an associate attorney in 1997 upon admission to
the Florida Bar. Julie concentrates her practice on health care,
environmental and administrative law and homeowner association/condominium
law.
Julie has represented clients in various regulatory matters including
coastal construction permitting, underground storage tanks, air pollution
permitting and enforcement and a variety of matters involving health care
facilities. Julie has given presentations at seminars on air permitting
issues and natural resource damages for various professional organizations.
In July 2005, she spoke on regulatory issues at the annual conference of
the Florida Health Care Association/Florida Assisted Living Affiliation.
Julie has successfully negotiated before the Agency for Health Care Administration
on complex reimbursement issues and has appeared on behalf of clients in
Florida and federal courts, as well as the Division of Administrative Hearings.
She is a member of the Florida Bar and has been admitted to practice before
the United States Circuit Court for the District of Columbia Circuit and
the Federal District Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida.
Julie is a member of the Appellate Practice, Environmental and Land Use
Law, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and Entertainment & Sports
Law Sections of the Florida Bar.
During law school, Julie clerked for the judges in the Circuit Court
for the Second Judicial Circuit in Leon County, Florida. Julie graduated
with honors from the Florida State University College of Law, where she
received book awards in both Mediation and Conflicts of Law. While
in law school, Julie was a member of the Journal of Transnational Law &
Policy and served as Writing & Research Editor.
